Secretlab TITAN Evo Gaming Chair Review

Secretlab TITAN Evo Gaming Chair Review

The Secretlab TITAN Evo is the company’s latest iteration on its flagship product. I’ve been using the previous version since 2020 and it’s still going strong five years later. However, I’ve been eager to try the new model, so let’s see how it fares during real-world testing. This is my review.

King of gaming chairs

I’ve tested a lot of gaming chairs from a lot of brands and Secretlab has remained my top recommendation when it comes to overall quality for the price. While other chairs can be cheaper, I’ve found Secretlab strikes the best balance. This all begins with the out-of-the-box experience.

Building a gaming chair can be intimidating for a first-timer. Thankfully, Secretlab provided very clear instructions. The helpful construction video is especially good at conveying which parts go where. Even newcomers should have the chair up and ready to go in 20 minutes tops.

Upgrade time

Once it was built, I started hunting for upgrades. An obvious quality boost is seen with the head pillow. Whereas the previous model had a strap that wrapped around the back of the chair, the new pillow connects via magnets. It’s a nice touch that is much more aesthetically pleasing.

When I sat in the TITAN Evo for the first time, I immediately noted the difference in lumbar support. This chair uses the “L-ADAPT” system which can move up, down, in, and out. It’s not a static system, either, as it moves around with your body. It takes some getting used to, but after a few days the upgrade becomes clear.

New seat shape

Another aspect that stuck out was the shape of the seat. Secretlab has redesigned it to have a wider surface area that is more accommodating. It’s more comfortable and I can shift about a little more, without losing any ergonomic benefits.

As a taller individual, I’ve got the XL variant. However, for shorter folks, there are normal and small versions, which is great to see.

High quality maintained

Other aspects of the TITAN Evo, like the armrests and lift system, retain the same high quality and great functionality as the previous model. Users can maneuver the armrests into their desired position and, with the CloudSwap options, further enhance the materials.

It’s clear that Secretlab has continued to maintain excellent build quality with its chairs. I’ve had no issues with the TITAN Evo, just as my previous chair has remained faultless during extensive daily use over the past five years. My preference is the SoftWeave material, as it’s cooler for the summer months or during intense gaming sessions, and I’d urge potential buyers to go SoftWeave. Of course, the faux leather versions are potentially more comfortable, but they will be warmer.

Difficult to critique

When it comes to downsides, I find it difficult to critique the TITAN Evo. The main difference it has over other chairs that I’ve tried is that it’s a tad firm. However, I’ve found this to be a benefit, as it keeps me conscious of my sitting position which, as I sit for hours at a time for my office job, needs to be ergonomically correct. It might take some getting used to for those who have been lounging on plush seat cushions, but I massively prefer Secretlab’s choice of materials.

My other nitpick comes down to the variety of designs on offer. I’d love to see more collaborations where the SoftWeave fabric is used, rather than the faux leather. It’s a minor point, but SoftWeave is superior, so it’d be great to see more designs using that material.

Final Verdict

Starting at $519, the Secretlab TITAN Evo isn’t the most affordable option, but it makes a strong case for itself. With noticeable refinements in comfort, design, and build quality, it feels like a well-thought-out evolution of an already great chair.

There are a few minor drawbacks, but nothing that stands out as a dealbreaker. If you’re looking for a reliable, long-term seating upgrade, the TITAN Evo is definitely worth considering.
