MW3 Beta Slide Cancel

MW3 Beta Slide Cancel Controls on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

The MW3 beta slide cancel is an important maneuver to learn, though the game doesn’t tell you how to perform it. The slide cancel in a throwback to the same technique in past Modern Warfare games, but it has been changed a bit in the beta. This maneuver allows players to travel around the map at a faster pace and chase down enemies that are actively trying to retreat from their position. Here are the controls for the slide cancel for the MW3 beta for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

How to perform MW3 beta slide cancel

The slide cancel controls is different depending on your console of choice, but all you need to do is quickly hit the crouch button twice to slide and then jump right afterwards to vault.

Using default controls, this means pressing the circle button twice and then the X button once on PlayStation, the B button twice and then the A button once on Xbox, and finally the Shift button twice and then the Space button once. Of course, if you have changed the keybind for the crouch or jump, then you’ll need to replace the command as appropriate.

Tactically, the slide cancel needs to be used carefully. In close quarters, the sliding motion can usually disorient an enemy to give you a slight advantage. But using a slide cancel for regular traversal can make you vulnerable and predictable if you use it too often.

However, the version of slide cancelling in the beta has hampered the move by making no longer reset tactical sprint. This creates a delay in the slide animation, which has made some players request that it be removed. You can somewhat fix this issue by equipping the Tactical Pads to grant you full ADS while sliding and increased slide distance, but requiring an item to “fix” this feels awkward.
