iOS 15 is due out next month, though Apple seemingly still has plans to support its predecessor. Recent leaks indicate that iPhone iOS 14.8 is on the way, to the surprise of many. But, when is the iOS 14.8 release date? What will the update include? Here’s the need-to-know info on the iOS 14.8 launch day.
What is the iOS 14.8 release date?
Apple is currently working on iOS 14.8 for iPhone. The California company is yet to announce an iOS 14.8 release date, though it should arrive soon as iOS 15 is due to launch in September 2021.
With the iOS 15 update due out next month, presumably, iOS 14.8 will arrive beforehand. That means the free download could drop any day now, though there is precedent for Apple to keep users waiting until the last minute. Apple previously released iOS 13.7 just two weeks before its iOS 14 rollout; with the in mind, the iOS 14.8 launch date could be September if it misses August 2021.
There is another important possibility to consider, though. Apple will allow users to choose between upgrading to iOS 15 and sticking with the former version via the “Settings” application. Those who choose to stick with iOS 14 will continue to receive important security updates, indicating that iOS 14.8 could actually launch after iOS 15. Since data miners are already finding evidence of the new version, however, it seems likely to arrive sooner rather than later.

While Apple is actively preparing iOS 14.8 for release right now, it’s still unclear what the update will include. Security improvements are almost a guarantee, though otherwise, its contents are still up in the air. With an overhaul on the way next month in the form of iOS 15, it seems unlikely that there will be any major and/or particularly exciting changes.
In other news, Shang-Chi’s early critical response is promising. There’s also a new Fortnite update, which is responsible for making a frog trend on Twitter.
