How to play as Vergil in Devil May Cry 5 and DMC V Special Edition

To play as Vergil in Devil May Cry 5, you must own Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition or purchase the Devil May Cry 5 Vergil DLC for the original version. This grants access to the all-new Vergil mode, in which players experience the destruction of Red Grave City. Additionally, Vergil will be a playable character in the Bloody Palace challenge mode.

Capcom added a Devil May Cry 5 Vergil playable character due to “overwhelming fan requests,” finally allowing players to wield his iconic Yamato blade. The Son of Sparda has been playable in several prior instalments, making him a favourite amongst long-term franchise fanatics.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will be available on the PS5 from launch day, which means we can expect a November 12 or 19 release depending on the region. While Vergil will be playable in DMC V to owners of the Special Edition starting from then, Capcom hasn’t announced a standalone Devil May Cry 5 Vergil DLC release date just yet.

Those details are promised “at a later time,” when we should also get full regional pricing information. For now, we know that the Vergil DLC RRP is €4.99 — you can expect to pay an approximate regional equivalent.
