Assassin’s Creed Odyssey continues to impress with the range of experiences, quests and secrets you can find in the game world, and none impress more than the mythical creatures you can find and defeat during the course of your adventure. Perhaps the most famous of these is the Minotaur, but where exactly is the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Minotaur? And when you find it, how do you beat it? We’ll do our best to answer.
Where is the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Minotaur?
You’ll need to complete a series of quests before you can take on the Minotaur. You’ll need to travel to the region of Messara and the area called Minos’s Legacy, or more specifically Knossos Palace. You’ll probably need to be around level 29 to undertake these quests, and around 35 to attempt the Minotaur.
You’ll meet a boy called Ardos whose father is locked in the Minotaur’s labyrinth. You’ll need to talk to three people around Messara, complete their missions and return to Ardos. He’ll give you the key to the labyrinth. Head in. If you know your myths, you’ll recognize the golden string along the floor that Theseus used to escape the labyrinth. You can use it now to find Ardos’ father, but unfortunately the string disappears in several places until it just stops. Keep on going and turn every time you see some skulls on sticks. Eventually you’ll reach the center of the maze.
How to Defeat the Minotaur
The Minotaur is one of the most difficult enemies in the game thanks to his size and the range of his attacks. He has a large axe which he swings around, and a ground pound move. Avoid these, hit him with fire arrows if you can, or get in and do quick attacks with weapons like swords or daggers, then get out. Be careful staying in melee range for too long, as he can grab you and throw you for a lot of damage.
At half health he’ll get angry and smash the playing area up, which will make it smaller, but his attacks don’t change. Do your best to stay out of his range and attack him in the back wherever possible, then quickly dodge out. Keep repeating this and he’ll be dead in no time. At least he doesn’t summon any boars…
